I am tying to pay money into my santander account from another bank, but apprently it's a bit weird.

I needed to use some generic sort code and account number, then in the reference field I put my account number and sort code. Does anybody know the format of the reference number. For example is it account core then sort code, or the other way around, do I need to put the - in the sort code.

I could not find anything on their website about it.

You should have been given it when you opened the account.

Mine are in the format XXX0000000Y where XXX are the first three letters of my surname, the 0's are numbers, and the Y is a letter.

    For savings:

    s/c is 09-00-00

    a/n is 00050005

reference is your R/K/X/W then the number then your surcode.
