two probs help!!!

I have two probs and not at all tech minded, Firstly my provider is tesco but it only lets me read my mail every now and again, If i am lucky and it lets me on i read my mail but if i log on again later there is nothing not even the mail i had got earlier on in the day.!!!
2nd problem is i have a tiscali e-mail now with that its also hit and miss it may take me ages to get my mail page up, then sometimes it tells me i have x mail but when i click on the page just comes up liliac but it dont happen all the time but at least once a day I am at the end of my thether, please please is there anyone out there to help me. But it will have to be in english as i say iam not technical minded at all.
