argh, cat has peed on leather sofa!!

hi, i have just inherited a 4 1/2 month old kitten this past weekend, was fully litter trained, and not had has vaccines, so not been out of the house yet.

he was nervy, but happy enough to use litter tray sat night, and sun night. then mon night he peed on his own bed, which sat on the sofa, i cleaned the bed, and gave the sofa a quick wipe with leather wipes. last night, he has peed on the sofa again, but it's the other sofa, basically over a whole cushion, and this time there was no bed to soak up the worst of it.

now i am totally panicking that my sofa is going to be ruined, and that i'm not going to be able to stop the cat peeing wherever at night. he has the run of the downstairs while i'm at work, but uses his litter tray in the daytime.

thinking preventative action, i could close him in the kitchen all night, but wondered if this might be just a little bit cruel, as he is left most of the day while i'm at work as OH is not at home at the minute, will have company when he's back, OH does shifts.

and the reason this is moneysaving, i have £2 til pay day (friday) and have no idea what to use to make sure his pee doesn't ruin the sofa! could already see this morning the little patch that got onto the other sofa is starting to bleach :(

please help!

  • The sofa can probably be recoloured with a coloured polish treatment.

Hopefully it's 'new home nerves' and he'll settle down.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
