From the advert alone, I would expect the price for each item shown to fall between £6.40 and £32.00.

Are you saying that that is an unreasonable expectation?

Not at all, I would just suggest that the advert is suitably vague as to not be specific enough as to which products the prices apply to and therefore only a guide rather than something that ELC could be held to.

The OP got the price that they wanted anyhow.... and I am sure the ELC would be correcting the advert to avoid further ambiguity.

Nope I still don't agree. The advert should say £6.40 -£40.00 then there is no problem.

I wonder if the £40 item will have a 20% price reduction on 26th December?

I agree about what the advert should show, but it doesn't and my suggestion is there is nothing to be done about it and I would think the advert is vague enough to NOT be able to enforce that price on ELC.

You have still not answered any of my questions about how the advert isn't vague. It's not remotely specific (probably for this very reason!).

Upon further investigation it seems that nothing in the Happyland range is priced at £6.40.
The cheapest thing is £8 so the whole campaign has been run showing the items at 20% less than the current retail price.

I suspect a 20% off deal to be planned for the Happyland range and someone has made a boob.

    Agree!

Or perhaps there is an exclusion somewhere that also states its only available at participating stores? Or something like that......

Either that or yes its a massive boob.

I agree with Hintza that there is nothing vague about it. They gave a specific price range to the group of products which is incorrect, in other words false, making it a false advertisement no?

OP perhaps a complaint to the ASA will set things straight
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Basically you could complain to the http://www.asa.org.uk/ if you really feel you can be bothered.

There are many complaints from people and/or companies, saying that companies advertised a price and yet had little or no stock to fulfill orders.

If they took your case up, they would ask ELC to provide evidence that it was available at the price shown on screen. If they can't then they would probably bollock ELC for including it in an advert when the toy wasn't available and tell them that the advert shouldn't be shown in it's current format again.

The question you need to ask yourself is, is it worth it?

Every few months, I tend to have a look through the site to see what people are complaining about and what companies are trying to get away with.
