Weird credit appeared on my House of Fraser Recognition credit card

Hi there,
I have a House of Fraser Recognition mastercard, I made two transactions on Saturday 23rd October, in two seperate stores, a hairdressers and a co-op, both in the same village.
It seems both amounts have been credited back to my account?! Both transactions went through fine on the day with no problems.
I called Santander customer services (run the card) and was told to take it up with the stores as they had instigated the credit, but I can't believe this is right?
Does anyone know of any glitches with any transactions on this date, or have experienced the same?
