Hi
A quick warning for Firefox users.
I was online last night and I got a Mozilla warning and then the
page pretended to scan firefox before telling me I had problems.
Then it offered to download something to fix it.
Of course it was a scam.
I'm not a novice but I have to say it was very professional and convincing. What gave the game away for me is I run Linux and a windows.exe file won't work. But the thing was right in that I was running Firefox and that made it very convincing.
I'm sure many users would have been taken in, so watch out for this type of scam.

This could be one of two things:
There's a current active exploit out there for Firefox targeting XP (although if it checks not Vista or Windows 7 then Linux might trigger it - see article)

Secondly there was an attempt to impersonate the "Bad Site" warning screen, and to pretend to offer a Flash Update impersonating the "new Version of Firefox loaded" screen.
Sill, if you run Firefox you should be running No-Script!!! (I certainly am),0
