I have version 10.0.1152 of AVG and my laptop now seems to be slower, so I am going to replace it with Avira as suggested by aliEnRIK in a previous post.
Do I remove AVG first and then install Avira?
Any other advice will be appreciated.

Download Avira, uninstall AVG - which might require a reboot - and install Avira. You can disconnect the Internet between uninstalling and Avira asking to update its virus definitions, if you like.0

Thanks for that, there are two versions, 32bit and 64bit. I am on Vista. Which should I use?

32 bit for 32 bit Vista and 64 bit for 64bit vista .
System properties should tell you what 32/64 bit OS you run .

- Click Start

, type system in the Start Search box, and then click system in the Programs list. - The operating system is displayed as follows:
- For a 64-bit version operating system: 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
- For a 32-bit version operating system: 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.

In the past week I have had to remove 5 of my friends AVG because of snails pace, installed Avira, and now back to Speedy Gonzalez.......0

I removed avg and put avira on my laptop and it went well following the advice given above. No malicious items were found.
However I put avira on another laptop of a friend of mine who had previously had a virus, which I removed following advice from this forum.
The first scan with avira picked up 3 files which had been missed by avg. Details of the scan is shown below, were the files dangerous?
