Advice on a new dog

Morning Jackie,
I believe every dog can be worked on to improve or at least given a chance too
We first thought one of ours was aggressive through protecting his "pack" but by talking to other Border Collie Owners have found out that he is fear aggressive. Through gentle encouragement and building his self confidence he has improved a lot and is continuing to improve. Yes we have to watch him like a hawk but a big part of it was us changing our emotions with him when out and about. These dogs are generally born this way.
I am no expert and have only learned from my experience with him. I do agree that having two dogs is completely different to having one.
Have you thought about letting Coco pick their own friend?0 -
Mine was a bit dog aggressive/defensive - we got him a companion who is very laid back and it made a great improvement in the first dogs attitude/confidence. It can work well, its getting the right balance of personalities.0
