  • Hi Abba

Finally gotten round to checking out your diary.

Sounds like you are super organised.

I can totally understand you wanting to change your sons last name but it's a scary thought that the lawyers would have to track the Ex down. Sounds like a potential can of worms to me.

Think if was in your shoes I would definitly just change his name at school and wait until he is old enough to change it himself without any permissions. Only you know how your Ex might respond, if he is likely to refuse then it's pointless but might drag him back into your life again :(

Thats my opinions for what its worth :D

    I've subscribed xxx

I agree with this. I hope your cold gets better soon.

Thanks peeps for your input regarding the name change it's been very helpful

I want to try it by just filling out the form the council gave me and take it from there, the lawyer did say if I ran into any trouble then I was to get in touch with her and they would draft a letter for me to take to the council/school as personally I don't want to track him down as he'll see that as the kids wanting to contact him which isn't the case, Abbie is adamant she wants nothing to do with him and Xander doesn't really know him tbh and after 6 years I don't want him twisting the truth to make me look bad as I was nothing but civil to him fought for HIM to have unlimited access even tho he started to become violent towards me and the kids which he blamed on PTSD from the horrors of being in Afghan and Iraq but being that stubborn refused counselling which resulted in me leaving him yet he painted me out to be something I wasn't but held my tongue and let him get on with it as leaving him was probably a shock to him tbh

Anyway on mse news I'm aiming for a no spend weekend :o as I'm still loaded with the cold :(

Checked on topcashback and the money has cleared for the holiday we booked :T so requested the £150 to be transfered to my bank account so £100 will go towards the holiday fund :T and the other £50 will go towards the debt repayments  so I have the money all ready for the first instalment which is due a great the end of the month :T then the next instalment is due end of Feb then the final payment is due start of due which is a small amount

    Goals for 2019
    • Clear the barclaycard by June balance is £4300
    • Clear the bank loan off which would free up £140 a month need to check balance would like to clear this by December (will find out how much is outstanding in a minute)
    • Take a bit more personal care of myself, do one thing a week for myself such as paint my toe nails etc
    • Start my exercise DVDs again and start to get fit and strong

Zopa loan is currently sitting at £5188.94 by the time I get to it hopefully July/August time (I have all three kids birthdays then ) the loan should be sitting at just under £4K  but I'll be able to snowball all the money towards this and get it cleared by end of November :T feeling quite positive and it means my windows and doors are all paid for :D

What a horrible time you went through with the ex, well rid in my opinion. Can't believe he doesn't want to see his children. That said my dad went off when I was 14 and never got in contact again. He sent me a friend request on FB a couple of years ago with no accompanying message so I ignored it. He passed away late last year, I felt sad he couldn't at least have messaged me, I would've responded.

That aside you are doing just fab with the debt reduction, wow what a huge amount you've paid off, well done :)

Hope you feel better soon and get the name change sorted xx
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

My mum and dad divorced when I was 6 and my mum always played games with my dad and used us as weapons against him and now our relationship is very strained I speak on the phone to him about twice a year and I always promised myself if I wasn't lucky enough to be with my children's father that I would always put them first which I have but I'm not doing the chasing and begging him to be in their lives .........he will have to answer those questions if he decides to come into their lives if they let him that is xx
