    Hi Abba

Finally gotten round to checking out your diary.

Sounds like you are super organised.

I can totally understand you wanting to change your sons last name but it's a scary thought that the lawyers would have to track the Ex down. Sounds like a potential can of worms to me.

Think if was in your shoes I would definitly just change his name at school and wait until he is old enough to change it himself without any permissions. Only you know how your Ex might respond, if he is likely to refuse then it's pointless but might drag him back into your life again :(

Thats my opinions for what its worth :D

It's 16 here in Scotland so he would have 3.5 years before he could do it himself xx

Hi just posting because I changed my name when I was 14. Although the law may be different in wales? I did a statutory declaration of name change which my mother signed with a solicitor also signing we did not need my fathers permission. Although this may be due to laws in Scotland?
  • Well done on the payments towards the Argos card, you'll have it cracked in no time.

r.e. name change, I changed my surname to my step-dad's when I was about 15 or 16 I'm sure my biological father had no say and he would be the type to be a right PITA about such things.

I changed his name via the justice of the peace but the school and council said they wouldn't accept it

Glad the appointment went well and you qualify for legal aid. I can't believe the school and council are being so ridiculous if it was done through the justice of peace!
