Well came up against the first hurdle of the name change they won't accept it because the sperm donor who we haven't seen or heard from in six years hasn't consented so I now need to pay through the nose for a family lawyer who charges £195 a hour to represent me in court and try to change his name........it's a bloody joke this isn't a decision I came to lightly but my husband has done more for my two eldest kids than their biological father yet he still has a say in what happens in their life because of a name on a birth certificate
I know people out there won't agree with this but he wants to change his name I'm fine with it the way it was but this is something he really wants xx
And I'm going to make it happen xxNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050 -
How awful you have to do that Abba. Hope they get it sorted quickly for you. Its nothing to do with those who don't agree. I'm sure you know yourself what is for the best and what will make DS happy

Thank you wannabe he was just so happy when we told him his name was changed and I felt like I broke his heart when I told him the school wouldn't accept itNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050

Do school not have the option of calling him by the name he prefers? So anything 'legal' obviously won't change until you've got the court things done but they could call him the new name?
Our school do. So my smalls letter come to the parent of X X but call them X Y in person?

I'm so sorry to hear that Abba
. I think Wannabe is right that the school may agree to call him by the name of his choice, but keep the other name for official things like letters. It's definitely worth asking.
