can he get any help

This is for a 66 year old man he is working but on low income.

His boiler has just gone he has only had it three years. It cost alot of money then now three years later another shell out for the boiler and labour etc.

Can he claim any money back? he didnt go down the warm front grant as the boiler went and he needed it done asap without waiting weeks.

Just wondering!

I'm afraid I doubt it, but I wonder if 3 years is the expected life of a boiler, or whether he might not have a claim against the original supplier / manufacturer? Although again, after the event that could be hard to establish.

See the thread in In My Home (Includes DIY).

Talk to Viessman or the original installer first. Replacing it is just pure madness IMHO. New car dear? Good idea - the ashtray is full in this one.

  • I don't know what the life expectancy of a gas boiler is, but I am sure it's more like 10 years rather than three. You should have a very good chance of having it replaced, if, as you say it's worn out.
First I would get someone reputable to to try and repair it, if then he says it's unrepairable you have something solid to to advance your claim for a replacement.
  • Central heating boilers should last at least 15years if installed and maintained correctly. I would be going back to the original installer and boiler manufacturer if it has only lasted 3 years.
