Apple recipes anyone?

Have had loads of apples on my tree this year and really don't want to let them go to waste. Apart from crumbles etc anyone got any good apple recipes so I can make use of them, preserve them whatever?

  • How about apple cake. Bear with me on this as I am not the worlds greatest cook/cookery writer: make a basic sort of sponge mix add bit of mixed spice. Pour it into a cake tin and press slices of apple into it so you can just see the tops of them. 180C for 30 min or thereabouts.
Nice cold but very nice warm with custard or cream.

Heres one my girlfriend makes, and it rocks. Ideally you want sour apples.
Get some puff pastry (buy it, it is a nightmare to make from scratch) and cut the apples into slices.
Put the apple slices on the puff pastry, and bake for about twenty minutes.
Make a caramel sauce, and add pecan nuts to it. (i don't know the recipie for the sauce, but you can probably find it at https://www.bbc.co.uk/food )
Put the hot sauce on top of the apple puff pastry thing.
OK, so the instructions aren't exactly Delia, but the combination is great.

  • Stewed apples and custard is lovely!

Just slice up the peeled apples and put them in water with sugar and boil.

Easy and lovely with cream, ice cream or custard!

I want to stew some apples but mine always seem to end up mushy. I would like them still in chunks. How much water do you put in with the apples as I think I put in too much?

Would this work with the microwave cake recipie (just a basic sponge)?
My oven is dead atthe moment so I am relying on my slow cooker and microwave!
