Switching pre paid to bills

I recently moved into a flat and inherited a pre paid meter

I want to move to move off it and go to monthly bills

But looking to do this as cheaply as possible.

The current supplier are trying to charge me £150 to switch the meters (scottish power) I have tried going to other companies, but other companies are saying before they will switch us, they need a 12 month history with them. Meaning I would need to stay on pre paid meter for 12 months with them.

Has anyone got any suggestions ?

Thanks

Have you tried British Gas? They usually just run a credit check or at least they did with me, and then changed the meter free of charge.

Try reminding them that it was the previous tenant that wanted them or got into debt and had them forced on them and that you should not be penalised on that basis.

Supplier's use PPM's as a way to gain some extra revenue. They love charging a new tenant when they would have put them in free for the old one!
