Toyota gearbox replacement

Just a vent.
We bought a three year old Corolla Verso on an 05 plate from Cargiant in London a couple of years ago.
An utterly boring car, useful only for the fact it has two optional seats in the boot.
We occaisionally had trouble getting it into gear...
Less than five years old and under 100k miles, something went wrong and to cut a long story short, a £3k repair bill (cut to £2.5k by the dealership which was appreciated but still a lot), and a nice shiny new gearbox.
Toyota understood my dissatisfaction, but happy to say that it wasn't unreasonable for such poor reliability...
Shame I went with Toyota for their reliability!

Did it have a FTSH ?0

It didn't, but whenever I mentioned it to our mechanic (whom I trust), he said that they weren't servicable.
Toyota just gave the age and mileage as the reason they weren't interested, everyone else thinks a gearbox should last the life of the car.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Should, but all depends how you drive the car.0 -

True, but considering it has always seemed to have the issue and it is the first new gearbox I've had to have.
Wish I'd bought a Megane Scenic, it would have been more reliable. :rotfl:Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0
