  • Don't they change your status though, on the IR site, before the 3 months? I'm sure I'd seen about people staying up until midnight so they could see their status change?

    Hi folks,

Well its been just over a year since I went bankrupt (12th October 2009) and I've survived! Ended up with a 5 year BRU for my sins having given my side of the story and had it rejected. I've just checked the Insolvency Register and it still shows me as bankrupt - just wondering if that should have changed by now as I assumed I'd be discharged or does the BRU impact this? Also what are the next steps? Should I be starting to try and cleanup my credit records or is there no point with the BRU?

Thanks in advance for your help ...

Did you get a bad credit rating as a person because of having gone bankrupt?

I certainly did ! To be fair it was bad anyway before the bankruptcy due to missed payments on credit cards and the like. The bankruptcy just took a lot of the stress of constantly having to deal with debt collectors chasing all the time although it would have been a lot better if I hadn't got myself into the mess I did in the first place - you live an learn :)
