Docking an Ipod nano

Hi

My daughter, who is 7, has an ipod nano less than a year old, which she has been docking on a little Bush stereo, she has now managed to damage the contacts/prong things, they still seem to be there but the white bit that support them the corner of it has snapped off, we struggle now to make a connection with her stereo, but eventually we can, but then as soon as she touches it to change the song it looses connection. The stereo only has the apple docking point or a headphones point, I was wondering if there was anyway we could now connect by a cable, therefore making it easier for her to change songs and possibly converting the headphone socket to an output? Can it actually be repaired, I have looked on some of the sights that do the parts but can't see this as an available part. any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Thanks.

If the Bush stereo has a line-in socket then it should be possible to connect that to the headphone out on the iPod, but the problem then is that it won't be charging.

I doubt that the part can be obtained as a spare, as most consumer electrical items are no longer designed to be repaired. I'd guess the best you could hope for would be to by a broken one of the same generation - say with a cracked screen - off eBay and use the parts from that to repair hers.

Don't underestimate how difficult these things can be to get apart and back together again, though...
