Hi
I hope most people know, but now is the best time to apply for graduate jobs if your in your final year!
Most of my friends completed their degres last year and didn't start applying for jobs till after. Seems bonkers to me!
With some smart thinking and hard graft, you can apply now. The top graduate schemes are open so now is the best time! However some will be closing within a week to be quick!
Good Luck:D

Many (The best ones) graduate schemes open around early October, and its sort First come first serve for some placements. If they have 5 good candidates, why bother to keep advertising?
Also, most graduate schemes have their own application forms, so not too much point bothering about your CV. However what I've found out, that there is no point applying for graduate schemes if you aren't interested in doing the best application you can. I thought I'd do a quick application for a company, did short answers for compentsy questions and guess what, I failed at first stage. However for schemes where I spent hours on checking errors, I'm going well and had lots of online tests and first phone interview yesterday
I'm hoping to get a place on a decent graduate schemes and be able to relax during the exam period know I have work lined up:) Well thats the plan anyway!
Its going to be very hard to get a job, so start ealier giving yourself a better chance. Now is the time to apply as you have plenty of free time, as spring will be disentation time, then june exams, then holiday, then you'll find in Septmeber that O I haven't got a job.
Good luck
ps I still find it so shocking that so many students haven't even thought of starting to apply yet
Any Q or tips let me know"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -

A tip: use your university's careers service for access to graduate trainee schemes for entry next September. Many will have password protected jobs boards.
Charlie792: there are jobs but you need to think laterally, broaden your travel to work area and be prepared to move away. Sometimes it's preferable to take a job which does not exactly fit your criteria in order to gain some experience and a reference.
Simon11 is absolutely spot on the nail with his advice, apply now or miss out.
Many employers will close their recruitment before published closing dates if they have enough candidates.0 -

Well look for jobs in other places and move if you get offered one!0 -
try signing up to temping agencies too.. some of my friends from uni were unable to get graduate jobs and found work with temping agencies.
on the other hand, depending what you want to do for a career, you could try and be self employeed. But again this is something you need to be thinking about now...not once you've graduated! Preparation is key0
