Any idea of a short sunshine 5-6 days break in December?

I’m planning to take my mum (63 years old) on a short sunshine break after 21st December. I thought of Canary Islands but not sure which one to choose. I definitely need some sun/sea water as I’m really struggling with the cold and rainy weather here.
Our budget is £300-£350 per person.
Any ideas?

Hi, try Egypt or Djerba :-) Djerba is quite cheap and beautiful.Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand0 -
You'll be able to do it very easily if you can avoid Christmas weeks. Otherwise that budget will probably be a little too small.0

How about Maderia ? especailly just before christmass the prices are cheaper.
It is lovely and warm , with beautiful landscapes & little markets .My friends parents love going to Funchal ( in late fifties ) . They usually stay at the Orca Praia which is outside but operates a free bus service, and is a bit cheaper. The hotel Ragu is cheaper too, Mostly its half board , weather is warm and they have never had tummy bugs ( no injections needed either ).0 -
Thank you all!I'll definitely look at Madeira.0

Yes, Madeira is a very good option for some winter warmth especially for those who admire attractive scenery and don't like things noisy and brash. It's also very good for walkers. The drawbacks are the lack of beaches and you are more likely to get some rain compared to most of the Canaries and Egypt. (But although Egypt is dry it gets much colder at night in the winter.) I would not go to Tunisia in mid-winter.0

So I guess it has to be the Canary islands then!0

To be honest you are not guaranteeed weather anywhere nowadays. I have know lots of people to get rain in december and january in the canaries too. Whether my pals parents have never got rain in maderia in the 3 years thay have went there-and the island has a great lift , as they are both overweight and have trouble walking .Altough as other op says rain is a possability.
Why dont you have a look at the places suggested here, maybe majorca too ( cyprus is nice to but longer flight and maybe dearer ) and see what place you like the look off and suit your budget .
I went to the costa's one year for christmass and it was fine- only rained one day and wore a t-shirt all the time. When I returned here it was baltic !
Anywhere is going to better than here and if there are things to do that your mum & you like it will be fine wherever you go.

Out of the places mentioned the only one you wont get rain is Egypt, the canaries can be warm, but they can also be cold and wet during december.
I am going to Sharm in Dec for 4 nights we paid £260pp for flights and hotel, booked flight with Easyjet, and hotel with first choice, so it is possible.
If you want warm, and dont mind risking rain Lanzarote is nice, we went last December, it cost less that £100pp flight and hotel (booked exactly the same as above)£100 - £10,0000
