air freshner plug in- cost

hi, does anyone know how much it takes to run one of these. E-on say its £35 per year?

  • Interesting point. I gave up using them years ago, I find the smell too strong and sickly - would rather use some nice essential oil on my little tealight burner. Found this rather disturbing blog entry on the subject;

    A 40 watt bulb running 24 hours per day for a year would cost £35. There is no way an air freshener is a constant 40 watts!!! If it did run that high it would need to be connected to gallons of gel/liquid, not a thimbleful.

    Ones like the Glade plug-ins that heat the gel pouches to release the fragrance use 4 watts, so based on this calculation above the running figure will be £3.50 per year.

    (That's £3.50 more than I would spend by the way!)
