Hi,
Can anyone help me with this siutation, i just made a debit card payemnt for the sum of £517. During this payment I must have entered my adress slightly wrong. The money was taken, but i was sent back to a page saying that the payment has failed.
I rang the bank and they said it was pending, i rang the company the payment was sent to, they said they had not recieved the money and that it was cancalled.
Can i expect the money to be back in my acount in a few days?

Who knows....best to check your account on a regular basis....0

The funds will likely become available again shortly - few days at most. Funds typically get "reserved" like this during a transaction. Then the money is either taken or the process cancelled.
Can't say for sure that this is what has happened here, but sounds like it.0 -

Agree with this. Depends on whether the retailer informs their merchant of the error immediately or not. Transactions that are not taken normally drop off of your account - this varies bank to bank, it can be a matter of 2 days or 2 weeks. I suggest you contact the retailer and see if they can tell their merchant to cancel the authorisation for the transaction.Best Regards

Thanks for the info. I rang the company I had made payment too right away. They said that they had not recieved payment and that i should take it up with my bank.
So i called the bank, I was given an Auth Code to give to the Payee.
I called the Payee, but was told that there was nothing that coul dbe done with the Auth, since it payemnt had been cancelled. Yet my account still shows minus the payment amount.0 -

This is a common problem - retailers not contacting their merchant to cancel the payment. Otherwise if they won't or can't for whatever reason, you are going to have to wait until it returns back to your available balance. (which varies bank to bank) The bank cannot cancel the authorisation.Best Regards
