Halifax mess up twice, what do i do??

Hi everyone

Hope anyone can help me as i am very very concerned of what has happened.

Me and my ex opened a joint Halifax account about 4 years ago, We broke up 2 years ago and he signed the account over to me so his name was off, We both went into the Branch and did this. I carried on using the account and when overdrawn as i have been struggling with my finances i got a letter as you do when over your limit. The thing is my ex also got a letter from them addressed in his name to his mams address so as you can imangine he wasnt happy as his name should be off but i got the blame. I rang up Halifax they werent really bothered said sorry and told me they will make sure no further correspondence will be sent to my ex.

Since then i have had many money problems and charges are going onto this account. Last week my ex recieved a letter AGAIN from halifax but a really demanding letter from the collections department. So obviusly he read this as it was addressed to him but thing is my ex now knows about my debt problems and all my detials. I rang the bank and went mad as i was really upset that the fact my very private and confidential detials are now in the open for people to see. The bank didnt seem that bothered. I want to make an offical complaint as this is so wrong and distressing.

What can i do??

I think this is disgusting

Have you tried googling "Halifax complaints"? Because the first result gives you what you want...

Thank you, i have just phoned the ombudsman who thought it was interesting took all of the details and has done an official complaint to head office of Halifax and they have 8 weeks to resolve the problem.

This post doesn't quite ring true, unless I'm missing something obvious.

You and your ex asked for his name to be removed from the account. Halifax clearly didn't do it.

But over that two years, surely you were getting a statement every month that had his name on it. Did you not at any point realise that his name might still be on the account, given that they were regularly sending statements with his name on?
