I had a reserved seat on a train from London, but didn't sit there. I told the guard I hadn't got to it, and he said so long as I had the seat reservation part of the ticket, and he could see it he didn't care where I sat so long as it wasn't someone else's reserved seat. There are usually lots of unreserved seats, just find 3 together, but don't expect to find seats with a table, they are usually reserved and occupied.0

What I would do, is be at the front of the queue when the train staff open the train to the public, as you approach the train see if you can see any of the on board train staff and ask them which is the unreserved coach, then proceed to that coach.
Hopefully, as your at the front of the queue you should get an unreserved Table.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
If you phone virgin's customer service department they will give you new seat reservations together.0

Have you checked a seating diagram, or are you just guessing from the seat numbers?0
