  • What a joke! When people are using the cards and with a low limit like £700 what logic is Barclaycard working by?

Surely they are breaking the terms of the agreement that they give you 30 days notice!!
  • Here's what you should do....

    Spend but something for 99p.

Seeing that you have used over 90% of your limit, they may increase it.

Ring them up instead. Use the +44 number (if any) on the back of the card or (saynoto0870.com suggests) 0800 400100. Do not hang up until
    1) you have confirmation that the account is/will be closed, and
    2) they will be posting you confirmation of the cancellation.

During this, they may offer you a better offer.

    Probably.

I'm with Barclaycard and I'll be checking my statements now to see if they have dropped mine as I hardly use it anymore and if I do, always pay off the balance.

I've had a BC Mastercard since the dinosaur era when I duly paid £10 pa for the 'privilege'. A week ago, I got a letter saying they'd cancelled my card as I didn't use it regularly. As it's the only card in my personal name (all are otherwise additional cards of OH) I rang up to complain. Young guy told me they were deluged with complaints as had unilaterally, with no warning, cancelled hundreds of customers' cards for not using them enough.
I would have appreciated a warning so that I could keep my one 'own' card active, but this was deemed too expensive apparently. No point in complaining I was told as they won't reverse their decision.

Received a letter today (dated 30/10/06) reducing my limit from £6650 to £260 as of tomorrow 02/11/06
Rang their b***** 08703663589 number saying that I am already over that limit.
They say I will not be charged.

Join the club, i had exactly the same treatment, complaining is a waste of time, you get a snotty letter from BC and a refusal to up the limit. They offered to review in six months but I cant imagine sticking around that long. P.S it aint to do with credit scores, I have a near perfect score but clearly do not fit their customer profile. Maybe if your near bankrupt they would welcome you as a desirable customer

OMG, I've just checked mine and it's been dropped from £5650 to £920. I was planning on using that to finance my house move. !!!!!!.

Martin can you find out what is going on here, and possibly even let them know their name is becoming mud by that shoddy treatment of customers on a board that is viewed by thousands of people every day. It would be great to see how common this actually is and their reasons behind it stick it in the email and let 700k people read about it, sure their marketing dept would be sick as a parrot to know they are treating their customers so bad
