want to buy my daughter a videocamera for her birthday. At the moment she uses OH's mobile phone which has a particularly good sharp quality picture (mobile is known for it but can't remember the name). I bought her a cheapie from currys last christmas but returned it as it was absolute c**p. I've been looking at creative vado 3rd generation and a kodak one both about £60. waht a screen size of at leat 2 inches. anyone know which might be the best quality or any other suggestions would be gratefully received. thanks. she'll be using it for pulling silly faces with her friends and recording family at parties etc so doesn't have to be great but i think a good size screen is essential for her to see what shoe's shot. she probably won't be downloadng anything although might want to use it on you tube

I've got kodak ZX1 and it's great. It uses AA batteries ,easy to find, and even comes with 2 rechargables +charger. You need to buy an SD card tho' - 8GB about a tenner. It takes 3 standards of video and still photo's. Rugged rubberised case feels solid ,great film outdoors , not so hot inside or poor light. Easy upload facility.
I got a flip minohd for £40 when they cleared out at dsg but this hardly gets used. No stills, usb recharge only, 4GB built in mem only, small screen.
Don't know about vado. I got a cheapy aiptek hd thing -rubbish but was only a tenner from the local adds.
Try amazon for zx1 prices. Can't recommend it enough - it's so convenient that you end up using it a lot0 -
thanks for that spacker. do you need the (whatever it was that you said) to be able to use itat all or to enable you to do other things. My daughter will only be 11 so an extra £10 is quite a lot. thanks0

The SD card stores the video data from the camera, so it's essential for operation.

I would personally recommend a FLIP as it seems to have better quality picture in darker environment. Mine has been really fantastic for more than a year.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Another vote for the Kodak Zx1. I've seen a couple of them for £40 lately (Comet and Staples) although I think they were the last ones in stock so look around.0
