  • Spread Betting can be a lot of fun but ensure you understand the risks as you can lose far more than your initial capital if you don't place limits on your orders when you are first starting out.

My personal favourite is IG Index as its easy to use from work since its fully web based and their spreads are quite tight on most markets and you can call the brokers to add unusual shares as long as you bet is large enough.

If you are investing large sums of money, get the most for your money by shopping around for the tightest spread on your chosen market as this can save you hundreds per trade.
  • Message me for a referral or help with spreadbetting.

I got one favourite company at the moment who do a opening offer who I think are simple to use.
Always do smallest trade first though, 1 unit is 100 shares and consider your possible cost as all of those 100 shares

I posted a write up on one trade here with costs:

Another one to add to the list is MF Global. I havent used them yet but I know they offer a free ftse bet for new customers. If ftse gains 50 or 100, you get that, etc

Another simple but good tip is pen and paper. Just write down your trade first before doing it.
What price do you want to buy, what do you expect to sell, where is your stop loss.
Then you have your deposit, profit and loss. What are you risking for what possible gain, if its not 2:1 or better then likely you are jumping the gun.

For more set advice google naked trader, he has a book and regularly states his trades publically. Also does a seminar
