I wasn't aware that I could ask Tesco driver to take shopping through into the kitchen as they've only ever dumped it in the hall.

The 'bag free' option is a bit silly - they allow 1 bag point per 10 items regardless of size so my last delivery, which arrived in 31 bags  would have 'earned' me 4 green/bag points!

  • Our driver brings in into the kitchen and then rolls around the floor tickling the dog!
He had one just like ours and sadly it died so i think he gets his puppy love from our house now!
I have usually nearly finished packing it away by the time he's finished and ready to go lol

Usually I get hubby and son to take out all the bags from the crates quickly so as not to delay the driver. However when hubby il a few times and as I have ME I just asked the driver to stackt eh crates in the kitchen and leave them - then i did it quietly and they had thec rates back next time.
Our drivers tend to be very good if you ask them - but can't comment on all.

  • I have to say that Asda annoys me, I have had two children at University, one at Preston (Uclan) and the other now at Stafford.
And despite evidence to the contrary, from telephone conversations to Asda head office as well as asda stores, IF you are unfortunate enough to be a student, the drivers only deliver to the front pavement of any halls or flat you live in.

My daughter lived in halls and private accommodation in Preston and despite numerous calls, the shopping was never delivered anywhere near her front door, she would recieve a call and had to come and get the shopping herself whilst the driver waited outside on the kerbside.

Now, with my son at Stafford I see the asda van arrive at the pavement outside of the halls and students always have to leave the flats/halls of residence and walk down to the parking lot.
Now I know there will be some people who will read this and say, well so what they are fit healthy students, tell them to get off their backsides and go collect their purchases, however, students have no different delivery price structure for starters, and what happens if you are unwell?
My daughter was very ill on one occasion and the driver refused point blank to even go past the door of his van other than to open it!

As you can imagine I was furious, not only did the Preston asda get an irate telephone call from me to its duty manager but so did the head office..where guess what..I was told, oh that shouldn't have happened..

I suspect that sentence annoys me, because we know it shouldn't, but you're stuck up a river without a paddle as it were when is 'Does' and no amount of telling the drivers/delivery people..you shouldn't do this..they just say..well its tough.
(in fact that is what one driver told my 20 year old daughter)

One imagines if non student people live in flats, they are not placed in the same position, or do they have to collect from the ground floor too?

I do realise that each delivery person is different, but their are HUGE discrepancies it would seem, depending where you are and to a certain extent what type of person you are...'students versus the rest of the world'.
Be wary of what you wish for..such wishes oft come true in the most unexpected of ways!

The Asda man with me dumps the shopping at the front door whereas the Tesco man brings it right in and puts it on my kitchen worktops (he so friendly that I suspect if I asked him to put it in the cupboards and freezer he would!!!)

My Tesco's man almost did that last time, he put the bags in front of the right cupboards and frozen stuff next to Freezer - I don't have a large kitchen but it was appreciated as it's confuzzling with teh amount of shopping i ordered (to justify the delivery charge I tend to bulk order).

I sent Tesco a nice e-mail to tell them how nice and friendly the driver was after my delivery - I know it is part of their job but definitely feel that he went that little bit further :-)
