Recommend Orange San Francisco as MP3 player?

At the moment I have a 6 year old Sony 20GB MP3 player which is on its last legs (battery lasts for about 2.5 hours, more sellotape than plastic on the case).
I was looking at blowing a fortune on a new iPod, but when I found out that it’s not as good as the iPhone (crappier camera, no flash & other things) I lost interest (couldn't really afford it at this time of the year anyway).
As I have an Orange PAYG phone (that’s also not in the best of health) the San Francisco is only £90. My question (to ppl who have 1) is what’s the music sound quality/Volume (going a bit deaf so need it loud) like?

Just asked hubby about volume and sound quality and he said the volume is loud enough for him but a friend at work complains it's not loud enough. Sound quality is ok but not quite as good as his Ipod Touch was. Though it could depend on headphone quality too because hubby is using cheapo ones at the moment.
Having said that the Ipod became redundant when we both got a San Fran each so it (the san fran) can't be that bad.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
you should better read reviews on Amazon, real users know it better0

"Out of the box" it is much less of a MP3 player than an Ipod touch.
With a suitable app (I've got "Mort Player" http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=mpa_overview&action=view&menu=36) it comes fairly close.
Adding a 16GB micro SD card gets you a decent MP3 player for rather less that an iPod Touch with the "bonus" of phone functionality.0 -
