Natwest - Definition of financial hardship

Hello again folks!

I am considering submitting a claim to Natwest bank for the exorbitant charges they levied on my prior to me closing my account back in Dec 2009. At the time while they were sometimes charging me £100+ per month for overdrawn charges etc, this made me get deeper into debt as I was having to not pay existing debts so my wife and I could still eat etc. Money was VERY tight back in the day.

Fast forward to now, our situation is better but still far from great, even though I changed jobs and I'm getting a lot more per month, the addition of a little daughter has drained the extra pretty much.

As it stands, in 3 years (which is all I still have access to, they won't supply me with my 2009 accounts) I have worked out they charged me almost £1300 in charges etc.

Would it still be ok to claim financial harship this far down the line?

It is unlikely. You can no longer argue that the charges are causing you financial hardship because the account was closed almost 9 months ago. Even in cases where financial hardship is agreed, most banks are using the standard outcome of removing the last six months of charges. This won't apply as your account is closed.

You can try, but I think you will be fruitless.
