Short commute, low house prices for FTBs, everyone's a winner!

You certainly get a lot of property for your money. What about this one?

Or this one for £380k which comes with 6 garages!

Why would anyone need 6 garages?
I didn't look at above £150,000 because that is 'reasonable' money to me, esp for FTBs (40k combined salary).

You can let the garages out maybe? You've got to love the other one I posted. In a good area of London that would fetch 10x the price. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

It all depends on how near your office is to the terminus station. If you have to cross town and change lines a couple of times that could add another hour to the journey and would rapidly get tiresome. It also depends on how regularly these trains run, and how early they stop in the evenings. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
Funny that I bought my house in 1985 for £60k and would be lucky to get £300k for it and before you say it must be in some undesirable place it’s in Surrey.
Just wanted to respond to this. We live in an area of Bristol which 24 years ago wasn't quite as 'yummy mummy' as it is today. A very good primary school (these are few and far between in Bristol) and a restored Victorian park nearby seems to have brought in the more affluent, younger families.

I agree house prices are more expensive in relation to salary but not as bad as your example shows as if your house had kept up with the average increase in house prices it would only be worth about £263k.0

Why is property still unaffordable for even the relatively well-off among the population?
My question is really as the global crisis gets worse and worse, why are UK house prices not following the rest of the world and crashing?
The USA, Ireland and other places are seeing half price houses why not the UK yet?
Which other countries are these, NZ, Aus, Canada?
But as other people have mentioned, people dont need to sell.

More houses than households where there are big falls. Less houses than households here and planning restrictions. Nothing more complicated than that.0
