Sky + - Want to move tv - How to???

Hi all on the Techie Forum.

WE woud like to move our tv across the room - but have Sky +, the wires are not long enough to take it across. Could someone advise me on the best way to do this - or would I be best to call Sky out to do it?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Maplin sell leads which are basically extensions for the cables which plug in to the back of your Sky box. I think they work for Sky+ boxes too, except that you probably need two of them (since the Sky+ box has two leads).

I can't find it on the website at the moment, but if you're near a Maplin call in, or phone them.

call up sky and say you going to quit unless they install longer wires.
  • Think I got my extension lead in B&Q, though I suppose it depends on just how much longer you need them to be as to whether they'll be long enough.

Thanks all - I will price the wires in Maplins and B &Q, if it works too pricey then I will do a bit of moaning to sky. - Hubby wants flat screen tv so it means rearranging whole house ( slight exageration......)

Cheapest way of doing it is to buy 4 x Screw "F" connectors and 2 x threaded F barrels.

Also then buy as much cable as you need, I reccomend Webro WF100 cable, remember you need 2 runs for the sky box, also need a telephone point.

Will be much cheaper than buying pre-made, moulded cables.

Seen a seler on Ebay who is selling it at £1.30 a metre with connectors added - do you think that is good value in comparison to B&Q etc

  • i moved mine across the room, got a long length of coaxial cable (for digital TV) and 4 connectors. Cut the cable to length, put the ends on and off you go.. cost around a tenner.
