tax Credits :(

i made a post last week about my partners smp and that we hadnt been aware the first 100 was disregarded, meaning the income we put in around may was over 3900 to much.
i called last week and they said yes this is right and they will remove 3900 from are yearlly income.
the lady said by the way it looks your money should go up by a bit.
we were getting £128.09 a week. someone did a calculation on are income and it said we should get £188 ish
also i was told maybe we should get a backdate payment for the under payment from may.
well today i got a letter saying basically that are payments based on are new figures on £4100 a year income would give us £132.89 a week in wtc and ctc
plus no mention of any backdated money. surely even if they uped the paymensts by £4 a week surely they would back date that amount or do you think its been calculated wrong.
onlly income we have is £4100 a year, baby and 2 adults, one adult on smp, one on esa with no payment.
esa doesnt effect tax credits as ive been told by esa and tax credits.
some advice, do i need to ring them or is this right, i thought maybe a raise each week by at least £30 and it backdated from may

when you say backdated what do you mean? backdated into the 09/10 tax year? if you have just updated you current year estimated income then there isnt a 'backdated' amount in so many words, the award is based on your yearly income so basically once the system picks up that new income figure it will calculate what they have paid you already this year and how much award is left to be paid to you, divide it by how many weeks left in the tax year and pay you in (almost) equal payments every week, so your payments are basically re profiled and spread across the remainder of the year and by the end of the tax year you will have been paid your full amount.
In regards to your income, tax credit advisors can advise you on how to work out your income, but it is up to you to calculate what your income is going to be, there not supposed to work it out for you, its your income and the onus is on you to make sure its correct, if there is a mistake made in the calculation it will be to your detriment so its always best to work out your income yourself.0 -
we did work income out but didnt know about 100 disregard from tax credits.
my sister got a back dated payment this year on her claim she got over £600 in a payment and her payments were changed and increased. also someone mentioned that i might get a payment back and the weekly figure would go up.
and i would have thought that it would have bee more weekly0 -
it depends on lots of different things, what income figure it was before and after, how much you have been paid already etc etc, the best thing to do is call them and explain your worry and get them to go through the award with you to make sure its all correct.0
