how much are we spending on our kids?

I had around £50 spent, with just jammies and stocking fillers to get and she asked if Santa would bring her a dolls house. So I bought one, big wooden one so, looked after well, it should last a good while. It was £50 (half price from Sainsburys), minus 15% discount, so £42.50.
From memory, she also has a guitar and keyboard, a learning laptop (though I don't know why I bothered seeing as she can use mine! *rolleyes*), a few little games from ELC (something like the crazy frogs game, and puff the pop up dragon), little bath fizzers, colouring books. Lots of books, she loves them and is starting to read herself. There's more, but I can't rememberEverything was bought in the sale or with codes and cashback.
I don't have a budget as such, I just buy what I think she would like. Last year, she had pink megabloks (managed to get two tubs for £9 (should've been £40)), a pack of little cars (around £2, should've been £8) and an amazing pram set that I managed to get for £1.74 (should've been £35). So main pressies done for £12.74 instead of £83.
Any presents that need to be built up, will be so that she can play with them straight away.
She will be getting a megasketcher type thing from me, too. So that she doesn't wonder why mummy didn't get her anythingAnd money for her bank account.
Last year was my Nephew's first Christmas and it's easy to get carried away, but last year was obscene (mostly due to my mum!) - he had pressies left here for weeks after Christmas, and that was taking some away every time he went back home!I've got him some monster megabloks, a megasketcher and a play tent combo thingy, so that's around £20 on the little fella, and then money in a card
Anyway, my thinking is that you don't spend what you don't have. It will be a much happier Christmas if you don't. I'm gonna sound like a charity advert here :rotfl:, but even just £1 a day saved for a year will give an amazing Christmas.0 -
Oh, and she has a little 'Christmas Hamper' too, that she'll get on Dec 1st.
So there's a beautiful book with lots of Christmas stories and songs, a CD, a little elf (to join in the fun and keep an eye on her), some chocolate santas and lollipops, a Christmassy mug for her hot chocolate, some dvds to curl up and watch on the cold December nights, a little soft toy and two 'tickets' for her to take her little cousin to see Santa
It didn't cost that much (not including the tickets to see Santa, that's a rip off!) but made up into a little hamper, it looks the business.

It's stuff that I'd have gotten her anyway, but made up like that it looks cooland way more substantial than the sum of it's parts :A
And we'll have a Christmas story each night while drinking the hot chocolate, rather than Roald Dahl :j And we'll decorate the tree and bake little treats while listening to the music :j
