Credit Card payments and problems.

Good Evening,

This is a rather long story,

In February 2007 I was pushed into having a student credit card (limit £500) by a man at the bank (stupid I know). It didnt take long before this was maxed and I was paying back in regular instalments.

Then in May 2009 there was a mistake and the bank put £800 on to the credit card and they transfered around £200 into my current account because it was over £0. Then the next month they put all £800 back onto my credit card leaving me at around £750 in dept. I have been paying back £20 a month ever since. Which worked out at £10 of the amount and £10 covering interest and charges.

I am sure this cannot be fair and it has just affected me getting credit from another bank. It was all the banks fault but I am still suffereing for it.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks
Adam

    Sorry what aspect is unfair?

It seems they made a mistake which they corrected. But did this result in extra charges or interest that you wouldn't otherwise have been charged?

If there is a specific fee or interest payment resulting from their mistake, then it would be fair to have this refunded to you. It seems if anything you saved a little - because during the time of the error it's possible you were charged less interest on the credit card.

if the limit was £500 and they transfered £800 that means you were in credit by £300, so you would of owd debt anyway still so yes its fair. Bet you didnt tell them about the money
