Double glazing window gasket

Hi,
I've noticed recently that the gaskets on the windows in this (council maintained) flat appear to be leaking hot air (not great as the days and nights are getting colder).
I don't want to potentially waste council money by asking them to replace the gaskets and would rather do this task myself.
Does anyone have any ideas or tips on where I can find gaskets for double glazed windows and how to fit them?
Thanks in advance

I got some black rubber gasket from a small local UPVC manufacturer - look in your local directories.
To avoid damage , fitting required a glazing bar removal tool which was not easy to acquire. I was told that having one could be regarded as being equipped to burgle !! It is a very thin hardened steel prising device. A simple tool but it is difficult to suggest an improvised sensible alternative.
I was able to borrow one from a friend of a friend.
You also need a rubber mallet to replace the glazing bars.
On reflection , I would in future leave this to the professionals.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
Thanks for the advice, I think you might have had a trickier job by the sounds of it, it looks like we have the gasket on the frame rather than on the window opening. Would you attempt to do this part of the job yuorself?0

The glazing is held in place by snap-on glazing bars which carry their own gaskets.
The opposing gaskets are pressed into place on the window frame. The glass has to be removed in order to replace these gaskets .
On newer installations , for security purposes, the glazing bars are fitted internally.
You can replace glazing bars ( together with the seals ) without removing the glass.
Provided that you have the removal tool and a rubber hammer it can be done as a DIY but as I have said I would not do it again.Forgotten but not gone.0
