New Account for Home Improvements

Im looking to put some money we have set aside for home improvements into a new account so it doesnt get mixed in with "everyday" money and consequently get spent. Whats the best account to do this with? Which bank? I would probably need a debit card and a cheque book to pay for the things we buy for the house. Any help appreciated.

Comments

  • a full current account. not a basic account as they don't offer cheque books.
  • Why not open a second account at your bank?
  • If you have an ING account you could set up separate pots for different savings. You could get the money by transferring to your current account in advance (or borrowing from your current account and replenishing from the savings one). Not what you specified but an alternative to ignore :)
