Gas+Electric for 1 room flat??

Hi, I'm looking to budget living by myself for the first time since uni where I paid bills by 1/5.

Could anyone advise an average amount to budget for Gas & Electric for a 1 bedroom flat?

£35 gas and £20 electric per month is what is so far been advised to use to estimate...


Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

That's a reasonable estimate - but you could also easily spend an extra £10 on electricity and almost double your gas.

The important thing is to keep an eye on your meter and find out in practice how your flat behaves - physical infrastructures and personal tolerance varies a lot. You can then adjust your behaviour to your budget. And don't panic moving in now in winter with the gas - next winter you will have all summer to help pay for the following winter.

£13 gas and £20 electric.This is a warm flat though (only running heating for half an hour a day so far this winter) and I am parsimonious with hot water.
