Help - Ebay for A Newbie

Hi,

I have just recently created an e-Bay account and a PayPal account alongside it. I am very new to this online ordering stuff. Once my PayPal account was created I ordered a home-phone off e-Bay as my current one is broken beyond repair. The order was processed and completed successfully. I received an invoice from both e-Bay and the seller. However, I was told I'd receive an e-mail once the product was to be dispatched. I was worried that they had not sent me an e-mail by now so I phoned them up today and they confirmed it had indeed been dispatched and should arrive tomorrow.

I am worried due to two reasons, firstly, I haven't received an e-mail still, so was the customer support person wrong or is there just a delay going on?

My second worry is that I paid through PayPal which, as I understand, is connected to my back account (I use a debit card only). Both e-Bay and PayPal stated my payment had been confirmed and successfully processed. And since my product has apparently been dispatched, it would seem that the seller has received my payment too. What I don't understand is why hasn't the transaction shown in my account?

I have checked my balance online and it is still the same as before I ordered the product. Does it take time to update or is there a problem going on?

I am new to this and I feel I might have done something wrong and I don't want to be accused of fraudulent or other bad behaviour by anyone. I am worried that something is not quite right, so if anyone can help me then I would be more than grateful for it. :)

The seller might not have marked the item as despatched, hence you would not have received the e mail.

It does take a few days for paypal transactions to show in your bank statements. If the seller is saying they have their money, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

The seller has to mark the item as despatched for you to recieve an email (automatic) Also paypal takes 2 days (always taken 2 days for us) for a payment to be taken from your bank account, hope this helps

Unless you are using a third party auction manager the buyer does not get an email showing despatch just because the seller marks it despatched. The seller has to physically send an email.

I restocked a lot of business packaging a few eeeks back and whilst everything has been received several of those items are still not showing as despatched in my ebay won page as some sellers don't bother. Most of those sellers though had automatic systems set up to tell me when and how my parcel was sent. I don't use a third party but i do send a standard mail to each of my buyers on the day item is posted.
