Problem with new car
I have just purchased a new car 60 reg I have had it almost 5 weeks and done 900 miles. Most of the mileage has be urban out and about and the car has been fine. On Saturday we took the car for a long drive, DH was driving and on several occasions the car crunched gears while going from 3rd to 4th. It happens when accelerating but not while driving at lower speeds. Today I drove it and the crunching is very apparent. Have contacted the garage. |The earliest they can book it in is next week. What should we/can do if there is a problem with the gears? Allow them to repair it or request an exchange! I can't quite believe we have this problem on a new car. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Most likely to be a problem some where with the clutch, but it could also be the gear selectors that have gone, I know on some modern cars they are made out of plastic and they can fail.
Either way it should be covered under warranty, unless you are a bad driver and have worn out your clutch plate.
You sometimes get niggles with new cars, but that is why you have a warranty
