Hi All

Having probs starting my van so whipped the starter motor off and found brushes badly worn.

They sell the brushes or a brush holder (with brushes) for £16 but this is the only place i can find that sells them ??

A new starter costs £95 !!!!

Anyone help or know where i can get set from ??

Cheers

If you are in the London area, there is a Starter motor specialists just where the North Circular meets the Hangar Lane roundabout ....I got some brushes there (a few years ago) for a couple of pounds. I drive past it regularly ...still there.

Years since i've had to do anything like this on a starter motor...he says tempting the odds...but i seem to recall that starter brushes need to be pressure soldered on, might well be wrong but my local auto electrician would soon rebrush a starter for you instead of replacing the item, don't suppose he'd be the only one.

as suggested by g+s try a local auto electricain..
will cost a lot less than the cost of a new starter
