Eon
Has anyone else spotted that Eon are at it again - They have just taken an extra £15 in October without premission on my standing order despite the fact we are over £100 in credit - How do they get away with this and how many other peoples money are they taking.

I am with them. Last month I opted for their lower rate deal but they have continued to take the same amount. Not sure whether I am supposed to wait for the meter reading. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hi murphy67,
E.ON can't adjust a Standing Order as this is controlled by the customer, do you mean Direct Debit?
The increase in payments will show on your bill, if you have an online account you will need to view the actual bill to see the adjustment.
E.ON try to ensure the customer accounts have a zero balance for the spring review, it sounds like your payments have been increased to ensure this is achieved.
If you feel this is incorrect, I would contact E.ON to discuss how we have come to this figure, we will be able to provide you with the figures.

HI might I just add to Helena's coment that all power companies work their dd paying cutomers in the same way, the projection on your bill until the end of April clearly showed that whatevewr your payment was before the £15 increase, plus the £100+ credit would not satisfy you total winter expenditure, had the dd amount been left the same you would be looking at adebt in spring, now you will be looking at a lower payment in spring. Best thing to do is find out total KWh consumption, current Eon tariff and do a quote fro annual cost to at least find out what you should be paying if no credit/debit on the account, then you'll have an idea if what they are now telling you you should pay, how far above/under it is to average payment.
Do bear in mind if paying by direct debit, you are under the direct debit guarentee, all direct debits you have with any services apply it. It states:
We have the rtight to change the date, the amount or the frequency of your direct debit. You will be informed 7 workings prior to the change taking place.
If a payment is taken in error you have the right claim the mony back from your bank or building society. You have the right to cancel the direct debit at any time.
I must stress, regardless of what another power company's sales staff might say about your dd with them, ALL the UK power companies worrk on the same basis. The other option is you don't want to change supplier a tariff change (if not already on that companies cheapest deal). You can change tariff twice in a 90 day billing cycle or up to 8 times ayear, if you do online billing with your bill provider, their website wqill always inform you when you go on of any new tariffs available, if there is one cheaper tahn what you pay currently to that provider, change to it.
Hope this helps.0 -

You are mistaken re all suppliers work DD's in the same way. British Gas want you to break even 12 months from when the DD was first started. This means all customers will be in credit or debit throughout all the year.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

Hi Airmike,
I didn't actually say that all power companies work out the DD in the same way.
I can't comment on other suppliers, Malc and I are here to give general advice to E.ON customers and people needing info regarding E.ON.
I was giving murphy67 an overview of how the Direct Debit should work for E.ON and it would probably be best to ask E.ON for the exact figures they have used in their calculations.

All i was saying is that i was not notified of the change to my direct debits and surely it would be better to have the agreement of the customer when you take money from them, as in my case my payments and credit will more than cover my winter bills. How many other people are in the same boat?0

Hi murphy67,
Do you have an online account? if so have you viewed the actual bill as the changes to your Direct Debit should show on the front page.
You should also have received a letter through the post.
If you would like me to take a look at your account to give you a specific answer on what has happened, I will be more happy to do this today.
Just use the email address in my profile page.

Helena I appreciate your position, but I work in the industry too, and other power companies do work their dd's in the same way, I thought it might be of use to the original poster as he finished with the threat of change of supply at the end of his post based on what he saw as eons direct debit policy, which is THE policy adopted by power co's when the customer pays by monthly dd. To set his expectations at the way his dd would be handled elsewhere.0

I do not have a online account, and I did not recieve any letter notifying me of the increase, i found this out by my bank statements. This is the second time this has happened ,the first time i did recieve a letter back in May asking me to increase my DD, I was asked to increase from 55 to 77 ! (to cover the summer months !!). And yet on both occasions being in over £100 in credit.0

Hi murphy67,
Not sure what has gone wrong here, can I just ask when your last bill was produced, as the changes may show on there.
But, as I have said I am more than happy to take a proper look at your account if you would like me to.
