I use the furminator twice a week on mine - does mean ALOT less fur throughout the home! Forgot to mention that0

I feel your pain - we're renting a house with cream carpets... and a black and white cat, who apparrently only sheds the black bits on the carpet and the white bits on my nice dark coloured duvet cover. I have to say - for the moment I've given up the battle - I hoover when I hoover, and since we're moving out soon, I'll mega repeatedly hoover then as well - because whatever you do, cream carpets are a pain in the rear to keep clean.
Unfortunately we're moving to... a house with cream carpets, good quality ones so my MIL is bugging me not to rip them up and put laminate down. I'm planning the laminate option!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I've got a Dyson all floors. I bought it when I had house rabbits - if I didn't hoover more than once a day it looked like a barn! I now have two cats and a teenage lodger, I don't know where I'd be without it!
Two and a half years later it's still good as new and it's been repaired once for free because it's got a five-year guarantee. I think they do reconditioned ones through their website that have a year's warranty.0 -
And with the car repair bill I've just got... my cunning laminate floor and no more cream carpets plan goes out of the window

We have a white cat and used to have a terrible problem with the carpet and cat hairs because the carpet was dark green. The problem seemed to disappear when we moved into a house with cream carpets :rotfl:0

Mine sheds the black fur on the cream carpets, and leaves the white furry bits for the dark coloured bedding. I swear she does it on purpose!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
You all think you have a problem, or problems? Get a short haired Jack Russell!! The hairs drove me mad. Part of the trouble was hairs everywhere but the smell from the vacuum was worse, this was simply the hairs getting hot and not because the dog was dirty! Then I bought a 'Pet' Dyson (DC25). This solved all the trouble. No smell and all hairs picked up and there's no filter to clean. I first vacuumed with an ordinary good vacuum and immediately again with the Dyson. In the entire house there was then no more than a dozen hairs picked up by the Dyson, I went on my hands and knees al over the house to check thoroughly. GET A DYSON, they are expensive but worth every penny. :T0

I have 2 Dysons (long story
)... yes brilliant at getting out dog and cat hairs. Unfortunately the dog hates both of them with a passion and, if allowed, would happily rip them to bits when they are being used. The alternative to this is shutting him outside, where he behaves like the Hound of the Baskervilles while you hoover (it's the only thing he's aggressive with though!).
So I bought a Roomba. http://www.iroboteurope.co.uk/ I just set it to go, and it hoovers while I do something else (like walk the dog
). He has now got used to it even when he's near it, mostly ignores it, and I have to say it's brilliant with dog and cat hairs. I do have to empty it each time, but that's a small price to pay for having the hoovering done while I'm out! 0
