How long does it take to cancel a Santander account?

Have heard numerous stories of account not being closed, has anyone got any info on the timeline ?

Well i cancelled mine on Friday, i had £14.50 of underpaid charges which they waived and put £15! So they gave me 50p extra!Oxfordmark

should'nt it be immediate. I closed a bos account there in the branch, only took 5 minutes. checked the online banking (had 2 accounts with them) and clicked delete on the account I had just closed. it showed that it was closed online the same day.0

It took 10 days for my account closure confirmation and closure balance cheques to come through. I closed mine over the phone.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

if u go into the branch with ID and something linked to the account eg bank card or a recent bank statement if a card is not linked to the account. It takes up to 10mins to calc any pending interest owed to you and closed for you there an then.
