Aerial falling on my Roof from next door

Hi,
I need some advice on what to do.

Basically last week my neighbours Aerial and mountings came off the chimney that it was attached too and now its hanging my its cable and leaning on my roof. It appears from ground level the aerial has damage my Rubber flat roof. As I did not own tall enough ladders to see the extent of damage I can't be 100% sure. The neighbour's house is rented and I get on with them quite well. My neighbour informed his landlord over a week ago and the landlord has done nothing about it and its just hanging there. I am worried that if we have a spate of windy weather the aerial will fall off and damage my car below.
So what do I do now?

Get hold of the number of the landlord and speak to him yourself and push the issue?
  • thanks I will try that. However, if I get no joy with the landlord what other action should I can take?

More or less in the following order leaving to for him to respond in between.

    o- speak to him
    o- write to him,
o- get quotes for the work and write to him again
o- get work done and take him to court for the costs

Hire your own roofing or aerial contractor to put it right before it does further damage.

Claim it on your own house insurance and get your insurance co to claim in turn from the landlord's ins co?

The thing as it is represents a danger to life and property. Landlord has had one weeks notice and done nothing. Just cut it down (I wasn't being flippant at all) and leave it on the doorstep. I would suggest, however, telling the lettings agency that they have 24 hours to do something or it will be cut down on the basis of "danger to etc". Googler - there is no need whatsoever for OP to put his hand in his pocket engage a contractor to fix something that is not his. There is no need whatsoever to get his insurance to pay for said contractor (which it probably won't anyway). The only time that his insurance will be involved will be IF the falling antenna/support has damaged his flat roof and that should be inspected without delay or certainly during the 24 hour notice period given to lettings agent.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for all the advice so far. Its a private rent. The current tenant I think works for the landlord in some capacity. The landlord who is a builder and brought the house some years ago when property prices were at its highest. He done about 30 grands worth of work to it and tried to sell then the market crashed!!!

I would be careful in doing this. Insurance companies will not pay out for preventative work. You could end up with the bill.

Move your car and make sure it falls off the roof.
