British gas have been telling me the same tale for a couple of years.
New boilers are more efficient than old ones, however as this is achieved by a more complex product reliability can suffer.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Marketing bull, ask them how long their new boilers last. Then ask if parts may be hard to come by in 10 years time.

Funny they never tell you their new boilers will be obsolete in 10 years time.

Worry about it if and when your boiler needs a repair, and they are unable to get the required part.

Or if you do want to change your boiler consider other companies as well, BG can be a bit expensive for what they do.
  • Totally agree with the above. If you want to know about Warm Front go here

    http://www.warmfront.co.uk/index.htm

There is also a Freephone no. They can give you much info relevant to your circumstances incl. a list of approved installers in your area.

My 14 yr old Glow Worm needs a new part and is still available. As Sooler says condensing boilers have a life expentancy of 10 years.

... due to the primary heat exchanger. As long as the parts are available, this should be a repair rather than a replacement
