thanks but i dont want to go to all that effort just to get the fiver and then never use the email addresses again, seems a waste, i was just asking on the off chance someone might have a few loitering around in their email that they werent going to use.
    no worries tho

  • Be careful with the toys and some kitchenware as they have a 20% off offer at the moment, so something that is exactly 5 pounds will go through as less than that. Ideally, it's better to get something around 7 pounds, and just pay about 60p extra. I did that with a toy that was in the promotion. It seems that after a week, more Sales Assistants are clued up about how to input the code. I think that Debenhams are fully aware of what's going on. My brother who works in Marketing said that given the high cost of ad campaigns, this is probably a cost-effective way of pulling peeople in to the shop to browse.
When I was shopping the first day, I didn't see anyone with a voucher, but on my second shop, lots of people in the queue were using them. However, quite a few people were using them on a much higher value shop. So, it took 5 pounds off a 29 pound shop. My husband reckons this is because most people are too embarrassed to go in and use the voucher to get something for free or just pay a few pence for it. That's obviously not me, or a lot of MSErs on here. So, in that sense I don't think Debenhams are losing out. Say, the woman's top is not in the sale and it has gone down by only 5 pounds, Debenhams has made a huge profit out of her.
It was funny when I dragged my husband along for a shopping trip, he felt quite guilty at paying only a pound for a five pack of socks and felt like he was shoplifting! However, he felt much more comfortable the next day. I don't think people should be judged on how many voucehrs they use. It is up to them. If Debenhams really wanted to stop this promotion, they could have taken the website link down and stopped sending them out. As far as I could see, Debenhams was packed last Saturday, so it is definitely working for them.

  • Spent mine in-store at the weekend AND I used it on an offer despite what the small print says!

The offer was on Red Herring mens shoes, buy one pair get 2nd pair half price! I asked if I could use the voucher and it went straight through. The girl told me that it was fine to use as it was a 'multi-buy' and not an offer!? :)

I went to buy a bag today, from the Duffer range, and was told that 'as Debenhams already had a 20% off offer in store on certain items (the bag being one of them) I couldn't use the voucher'.

It does state in the terms and conditions that the voucher can't be used with any other offer. Think I picked the wrong SA! Don't know whether it's worth trying again.
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?
