Between Halifax & PayPal i've lost money. What to do?

Just filtering off some money from my Halifax to my AA Savings account & noticed 2x £20 "money out" entries on the same day.

Thinking i'd hit the submit button twice (as i can account for one of the entries) i checked my paypal.

PayPal lists only one £20 money out

Yet my bank account lists TWO £20 debits with a PayPal Payment description.

This was on the 19th. What am i to do here?

I'm not filled with optimism. I remember when i had bother with my Nationwide account, i got my money back with no hassle.
When a workmate had his card cloned & lost £50 with Halifax, they never gave him his money back.

EDIT: I don't know how quick the debits show on the Halifax statement, but i sent money on 19th Oct, which shows as 19th Oct on my PayPal statement. Both £20 debits show as 22nd Oct on my Halifax statement.

Pick up the phone and tell them.

That is a remarkably small loss on a cloned card. Perhaps there was evidence that he wasn't telling the whole truth. Cloned card fraud would usually run in to 4 figures.

Called Halifax, they say it's a PayPal problem - no surprise there.
Although they did say other customers have complained about duplicate transactions recently, which offers some hope

Small to the banks perhaps, but not to the individual. To some people, £50 is a lot of money & not something that you can turn around & say oh it doesn't matter, it's only small amounts to.

I had £45 taken from my Nationwide account & i got the money back in full. The payment was made online to a music store. Luckily, they could even tell there'd been 6 failed attempts on my card before they got it right.

Small amounts is the wrong attitude (i'm not accusing YOU specifically of this, but if it's the bank then it's wrong).
