1950's wedding dress - non bridal shop

Hi all
I'm desperate for a 50's dress. Prefer white, however, I'm not completely against a coloured dress.
I would like something that has a high back and sleeves.
As this wedding is without parental guidance  we're on a huge budget, so the dress has to be £200-£250 absolute maximum.
I've had a look at bridal shops and 1. they're much too expensive and 2. they don't really have the design I'm after.
so, Google has become my best friend however, I can't really find the style of dress that is around £200-250 or it is sleevless or the back isn't full....
Can anyone offer any guidance?
If it's not white, I'm fine with this - but not sure if a white veil suits or if you can wear a white veil with a coloured dress? clueless! Or can you have a coloured veil? (feels a bit chavvy!)
Any help so greatfully appreciated

If you can't find the high back sleeved dress that you are looking for what about a little bolero jacket over the top? I'm having one as I HATE the tops of my armsSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Maybe lose the flowers off the back and see what other colours the seller could do and ask for slightly longer sleeves?

Hi there,
I am so pleasedto find this thread. I am renewing my vows and even though I want a new dress I don't want nor do I think it would be appropriate to have a big old dress. I have had a look at all of the links and think they are fab! my only problem is I would love an original 1950's style dress so it's a bit quirky. does anyone have any ideas. I can't really go to London to get fittings as I am in the North East. I have no idea where to look
