Best Internet phone & Network

Hi, looking for a decent lowish cost internet phone.

Any ideas of the phones to consider, and the cheapest networks. I suspect i-phone or HTC, but the I phone is too expensive.

Is the HTC wildfire any good - or will I be pulling my hair out compared with a very cheap laptop (the cheapest laptop from the land of cheap laptops :rotfl:).

Personally I'd go with "Three" the basic ones give you 5000+ txts a month and 500 Mins of any network calls with 1Gb data a month. (£20 month for Wildfire / £25 for refurbished Desire)
I've not tried the HTC Wildfire (it's the budget end of the HTC Andriod phones) people say it's good for it's size.
I'd go for the HTC Desire, the new version Desire HD is just out so you might see a load of old Desires on the market as people upgrade.

But if you do a lot on the net then a Netbook might be better value. Grab a cheap netbook and a 3G card.

    Hi,

Would definately recommend you have a look at the Orange San Francisco Android phone, cost £99 + compulsary £10 topup card required. This phone can be unlocked for as little as £0.99 and then can be used on any network. I got one about 3 weeks ago and within a day had to get another one as the wife had comandered it :-) they are brill and do everything the Iphone does and more for a fraction of the cost. I am an apple lover but they are so good I sold my 64GB Ipod touch this week as have no use for it anymore after getting this phone.
We have signed up to 12 month contract on T Mobile which gives 600 mins any network any time, 500 texts, Unlimited internet with fair usage of 3GB per month and unlimited landline calls all for £7.50 per month but not sure if its still running.
Take a look what everyone is saying on HUKD

    Hi davep,

Thanks for the recommendation about the Orange San Fran - I was looking into getting an HTC Desire but having read your post and the hotukdeals forum, am considering the Orange San Fran instead now.

What I couldn't tell from the hotukdeals site was:

    1) Is it definitely possible/easy to unlock to use on another network? How did you do that?

    2) Once unlocked, would it then work with any sim-only deal that includes internet usage?

    3) The hotukdeals forum was talking about problems with the apps - have you had this?

    Thanks
    Claire

Market stall /Internet cost from 99p to £20 all same service .

Yes i have an O2 unlocked phone using Virgin Mobile PAYG or O2 PAYG.

Not sure which of the 250 odd posts on that topic you refer to but .
Android apps many many and nearly all free some may be a bit in the beta stages .
Or Android apps can use a lot of data yes as the internet connection can be on all the time >> use something like quick settings from the app market to turn off mobile data unless required
Use appbrain to load and find Android apps .

Android might be the new kid on the block but this brilliant OS is really going places .

it depends what yu want to do with a smart phone or a laptop/netbook,

with regards to the network what network ar eyour friends on ? have they had problems with the signal at home or work ?
