Hi All,

I am a frequent visiter to the forums however this is the first time I have posted.

I'm looking for some advice on selling items on ebay. After taking advise from posts on the forum and the MSE website I decided to have a clear out of unused/unwanted items.

I have put up a number of items for auction, however I have just received a message from someone asking if I have a "buy it now" in mind for one of my items.

I never had a price in mind, I just hoped to sell the item for more than start price.

I don't know what to respond, I could make up a rough figure but what would happen then?

Think of a figure you would be happy to sell it for and let them know - they will either accept, in which case you add a "buy it now" so you can sell it straight away, or they will say no and you let the auction run as normal and hope you sell it.

Normally people asking for Buy it nows of newish ebayers think they are going to get a bargain. Personally I always refuse such requests and tell them that I wish to let the auction run.

If you do wish to do a BIN if there are no bids you can add the option to your auction (remember this costs) or you could up your starting price to the agreed BIN price then end the auction and sell to that buyer.

Thanks for your responses. I think I'm just going to let the auction run it's course, although I have no bids at the moment there are a number of people watching the item so I think it would be unfair to put a BIN price on and if it doesn't sell it hasn't cost me anything.
